Since starting Mobile Game Party a few months ago, Brooks has found eager crowds with 7- to 11-year-olds, especially for birthday parties. But adults have increasingly asked about renting the truck, and Brooks has found a niche in Thunder Alley, where basketball fans stop in for a virtual game of hoops before the real game begins.
Mobile Game Party has been a relatively inexpensive startup venture for Brooks. The truck was built by Rolling Video Games in Tennessee, whose owner creates each truck a little different than the last one. A generator keeps the party going, and Brooks will park the truck anywhere around central Oklahoma. The cost to book Mobile Game Party ranges from $199 to $299.
Jennifer Borsch, who helps Brooks with Mobile Game Party, said the concept is getting attention because it provides a different option for children's birthday parties. But people are booking it with other strategies in mind.
"During the holidays, we did a party where the parents sent their kids into the game truck for a couple of hours while they had their own cocktail party," Borsch said. "It's been great."
